D o you know how hard it is for a trans to get a job with background checks and all? I had apply for my dept, before I could interview her my hiring manager deleted the online app from the company database. Everything was great on the app bachelors degree, great references and interns. Thats at a fortune 100 company

Exactly what I was talking about. Even min wage jobs use background checks now. It has become as common as drug testing.

Generally you're most likely to have to do a background check if you're applying for a chain or large company. It's still relatively uncommon in small businesses though, so if you can pass- you still have the option of small businesses like restaurants, bars, shops, so on.

However, on the flip side of that- small businesses usually have little in the way of benefits, so you'd have to buy your own insurance policy- and those private policies are usually among the worst for trans health care (like therapy & hrt).

You can't rely on HRC's employer grading scheme either, for the most part its a joke.

So true. Typically the logic those kind of surveys follow is that transpeople are like gay people but more visible. So if they have at least on unisex bathroom then their transfriendly.

Like others have said many times. Transwomen who are at a stage where they would not have credit or large savings and a career which is not yet developed have little choice.

Let me tell you about someone I know. Their career was not going well a while back so they escorted for a while. They got breast implants and paid their bills. Now this woman is thinking about escorting again in order to afford more work. There is no way her career will pay for this work for at least 10 years. What should she do?

I say life's short. Get what you can while you can how you can.
