RIP Mary Travers
RIP Mary Travers of Peter, Paul and Mary fame. One of the guiding lights of the folk revival leading to folk-rock in the 1960s, Mary is a true icon in her field. Leaving on a Jet Plane, Early Morning Rain, Blowin' in the Wind: PP&M helped bring many of the greatest songwriters of the past 45 years to international attention (Dylan, Lightfoot, Denver, and many, many others) as well as writing great original songs (Puff the Magic Dragon, I Dig Rock 'n Roll Music) and endless traditional songs. Through it all, Mary's sweet voice was the center. Now after several years struggling with leukemia, she has passed at 72.
