I do Real Estate and home loans, but I'm in Northern California. However, if you need any advice or a second opinion feel free to PM. I could also give you an idea of how much loan you qualify for.
Quick advice: Don't rent. Home prices and interest rates are hella low right now. Even if you'd rather rent, pick up a house and rent it out. You'll turn a profit in a year or two.
