Easy answer why; Transition is ridiculously expensive. The best looking transsexuals have usually invested *at least* 30,000 dollars in surgery and hormone therapy over the course of several years and usually need at least $15,000 more to complete the final surgery. The sexiest transsexuals often start transition as teenagers or just after turning 20. The kind of day job a 20 year old transsexual can come by is never going to pay for transition. Your chances of finding a passable and willing TS just looking for " NSA fun" are practically non-existent. The kind of transsexual that's passable and lives as a woman takes so much estrogen that she pretty much never gets horny and on that once every 6 months occasion that she does feel like having sex for fun and maybe even posts an ad on craigslist she's got 100 guys to choose from in a matter of an hour or so with more then a couple that are her own age, in great shape and look like they could be models in addition to being exceptionally charming and well spoken. Even if you're a pretty good looking guy with a nice attitude your chances are basically zilch with competition being so high.

Transsexual women are not the ridiculously slutty fantasy girls portrayed in porno. They recognize that they are fetishized and fantasized about by a LOT of men, they recognize that your average guy is never ever ever going to manage to hook up with his fantasy transsexual in some gay bar peopled by crossdressers, they recognize that they have basically no hope of ever financing their transition before they hit 35 without resorting to escorting. So that's what they do because that's what's necessary.

If you think that the only people that "have to pay for it" when it comes to transsexuals are exceptionally obese or borderline socially retarded then think again. Any really sexy transsexual has already charged guys that are much better looking then you are. She's been with guys who are professional athletes and personal trainers, guys who've worked as models for magazines, she's been taken out for expensive dinners by hot young professionals, complimented for hours and treated like a princess and then gone back to thousand dollar hotel room suites and played the part of an erotic goddess while having mind blowing sex beyond what most people can even imagine exists and *she got paid for it*.

Sorry to burst the OP's bubble, but my life experiences have differed from the bitter scenario he just painted. I've dated some beautiful TS girls, and been engaged to one. People like who they like.
