Rodney just doesn't go nearly far enough. This paper:

Grandi, J. L., Goihman, S., Ueda, M. and Rutherford, G. W. (2000). HIV Infection, Syphilis, and Behavioral Risks in Brazilian Male Sex Workers. AIDS & Behavior 4(1)

Found that in Sao Paulo in 2000 40% of tv/ts sex workers were HIV positive, and states "HIV and syphilis among sex workers are urgent public health problems that require continuous prevention programs for male sex workers and their clients." (Note that FORTY PERCENT-- Sao Paulo is becoming a popular destination for TG-attracted sex tourists.)

A study in Rio in '96 saw that 28% of TG sex workers were +ve.

A '98 study found that "HIV prevalence is higher for the transgender population than for both men who have sex with men and injection drug users in San Francisco; that HIV infected transgender women continue to engage in high risk sexual behavior."

The fact that all of these studies are 5 years or more old is itself a cause for concern as global data make it very clear that HIV is on the increase again, so these already bad findings are AN UNDERESTIMATE. It only takes a few minutes internet searching to discover the truth.

What all that should be telling any fuckwit that doesn't get it yet is that the TG community is seriously, seriously high-risk. ANYTHING that promotes, idealises or apologises for unsafe sexual behaviour within this group is completely irresponsible.

Until a 100% cure or vaccine-type prevention method is identified for HIV (and they have been trying for 20 years so don't hold your breath,) a zero-tolerance approach to bareback sex and ESPECIALLY anal creampies is the only way to go. Zero. This shit is killing people.
