    Default Singing passably

When I'm not making porn and hanging out with sex workers I spend a good deal of my time hanging out with other musicians and making music. I always feel so self conscious about my voice, which I feel is pretty but not necessarily 100% undetectable that I'm TS. I get especially self conscious when I'm singing in front of other musicians who don't know me very well.

Often times because of this I just accompany other people on the piano or stick to playing classical music. It's been especially challenging since my trach shave as I can't quite hit some of the high notes I was able to just a few months ago. I keep hoping that my vocal chords will strengthen soon, as I find it frustrating losing part of my range.

Are there any other girls out there who are musically inclined, who try and perform in settings where they are not out? Do you pass? Speaking is one thing, but trying to sing is another thing entirely.

My two cents play like Rock Band or the New Guitar Hero games and do vocals. It's fun and might help you reclaim your range. Then when your confident show off those pipes.

Do the musicians know that you are TS? If they do then you shouldn't get self conscious. I have seen your videos and you sound like a female to me. I guess singing is a different story? I don't know.

Try not to let it hold you back Mandy. You're obviously a very artistic/creative person, have fun with it. I look forward to hearing what you create. Best of luck. Xx

I play the piano and sing, so I have no problem working on my range. It's not really a lack of confidence either.

I have so many friends who are amazing musicians, and I often times end up making music with people who I don't necessarily want to be out to. Not because they will react negatively, but because I don't want that to be part of the equation.

Also, just because I'm self conscious about it doesn't mean I let it stop me from playing music with other people.

Mandy, you have great taste in music. You ought to put out a CD sometime in the future. Sasha Grey has her own little music project on the side and if she can do it, so can you.

Maybe someday in the future I'll start writing my own songs, at which point I might do something like that. For now I'm just happy to play with my friends when their bands tour through town, or when I'm visiting them.

Pass. yes. Sound GOOD? Getting there, but it takes a lot more work. I can be seen attempting to reclaim my singing career at karaoke at a local gay bar sometimes, but I don't dare try singing anywhere else but my shower... and I've been told I have a broadcast quality speaking voice. Singing is hard enough, but extending your range enough to broaden your repertoire? Priceless!
