The poster, which bears a very superficial resemblance to Shepard Fairey’s famous Obama Hope illustration, has been pasted on freeway supports and other public surfaces. It has a bit of everything to appeal to the drunk tank of California conservatism: Obama is in white face, his mouth (like Ledger’s Joker’s) has been grotesquely slit wide open and the word “Socialism” appears below his face. The only thing missing is a noose.

Bedlam Magazine write,

“The Joker white-face imposed on Obama’s visage has a sort of malicious, racist, Jim Crow quality to it.”



It was ok to say everything under the sun about George W. Bush but this poster goes to far?
Its racist to depict a black man as a villain but its ok to do it to a white man?

So much for freedom of speech I guess the only speech that is free is liberal speech now.

The President happens to be black. The Joker (comic book character) wore white pancake clown makeup. Sorry that there just aren't enough historical or literary black clown evil masterminds to draw artistic inspiration from.

There's real racism in the world, but you'll lose the ability to recognize it if everything is perceived as racist. This doesn't fit the criteria, even if the artist is a klan/nazi. It's just political.

The image is not racist. It's funny, yes, but racist, no. They are trying to portray Obama as a villian, they did it to Bush, Clinton and Bush Sr and probably countless presidents before them. I think just because Obama is black that people are saying it's racist. The same people however would be laughing if a photo of Bush was done in Joker paint.

guyone's just a self-loathing fag who desperately tries to stay away from the temptations of HA. He's gone for months at a time, and then something breaks inside and he's back. Government never did anything for him (except provided him with a education, surrounded him with communication/transportation infrastructures, given him the protections of the law, the protections provided by fire departments, police departments, the military, made sure he has pure safe water to drink and even inspects the food he eats etc. etc.)and so he thinks paying his fare share of taxes is communism. Give him a break, he's a lonely idiot.
