Depends on what you call a "cult film". If it's a film that's viewed over and over again by a sizable fan base then my favs include:
Rocky Horror Picture Show
A Boy and His Dog
From Dusk til Dawn
The Big Lebowski
Jackie Brown
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Not necessarily in that order.
"...I no longer believe that people's secrets are defined and communicable, or their feelings full-blown and easy to recognize."_Alice Munro, Chaddeleys and Flemings.
"...the order in creation which you see is that which you have put there, like a string in a maze, so that you shall not lose your way". _Judge Holden, Cormac McCarthy's, BLOOD MERIDIAN.

Mmmm which one don't you have Jericho? I going with "A Boy &..." cause I'm guessing it's the most obscure.

I hadn't heard about the remake. Do you remember who's doing it? I hope they don't botch it. The newest "Day the Earth..." doesn't hold a candle to the Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal version (IMO).

A brave move, it may have promise! (i *do* like the lotr animation!)
I haven't seen the remake of "Day the Earth...", i've been avoiding it...I just *know* i'm going to be dissapointed!

As the toon girl I can't say I don't like animation, but a lot more it is bad than good. So here's hoping for a happy result.
If you ever see the new "Day the..." be prepared for the shock and awe of special effects wizardry, and a total absence of promise and mystery. Oh, and stay out of the way of Keneau Reeve's ego.
