Dougie Maclean singing "Caledonia", the original and finest version of a song that has transcended its humble origins to become an alternative and imo far better Scots anthem than the truly awful "Flower of Scotland".

He sang it at the Stables in Milton Keynes last week and I wasn't the only one fighting the tears by the end. It says in a very gentle way all that needs to be said about exile and the yearning for a dear homeland.

We shared a dram afterwards - we started out in rival bands in the way back - and with a bit of luck I might be playing his festival in Perthshire next year which will be an honour and a treat.

as most people know i am very into my classical , and musical scoring instead of generic music ....

i am listening to the paino score to the film "the grey"




This is up there with Surface of the Sun by jon murphy, utterly emotion inspiring ... Also the Movie itself is by far one of the great scripted/shot films in many years ... with some really good messages about what it is to be human and the will to survive ...pissed me off that all the bell ends just wanted to see liam neeson fight a wolf with bottles lol and then flamed this movie ....

i just bought a copy of coltranes "blue train " on 180 gram audiophile vinyl . it is really sweet . i just kicked back with a guiness and am listening to it now .
