    There is a tide in the affairs of men, which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
    Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in the shallows and in miseries…..
    And we must take the current when it serves, or lose our ventures.

    Quite interesting , thanks. Like the music too. Christ , now Velvet Underground and Jefferson Airplane are for old people ? Frightening and funny reminders of our mortality.

    A friend asked me if I would like to go to one of the two gigs Jefferson Airplane shared with The Doors at the Roundhouse in London (I think it was 1970), and I declined, being a youthful idiot. Bizarrely, she can be seen in the footage that was filmed of the Doors that appears in a documentary made around that time or just after Morrison's death, so had I gone I too would be on film, whereas my only record on film, also the result of adolescent idiocy, is in some footage of a Cream gig. I also declined an invitation to see Jimi Hendrix at the Savile theatre in '67. Clearly being young is just as problematic as being -or growing- old.

    Love Tom Waits . Saw him live lots of times when I lived in and visited NYC in the 70's and 80's . Sitting at the piano with a constant cigarette burning , hope he quit . I think he lives in LA now.
