GRS averages about $5K to $20K domestically and abroad.

While I would not call the price of transitioning inexpensive it indeed is
doable if one is committed to seeing it through.

From a very early age I knew that I would have GRS, and I achieved
that goal, along with all the other accompanying surgeries.

I never enjoyed using my penis, and it was never my meal ticket, so not
having the use of it was no loss to me.

On the related topic of dilation, there are some misconceptions being
spread in this thread.

Dilation is really just having sex with your neo-vagina.

In the first weeks post operatively it is very important that a woman dilate
so that her neo-vagina does not close.

After that point, a woman merely needs to have sex with someone or to
masturbate with herself. Even then there is no mandated schedule and
she is not at risk of having her vagina close up on her.

Having GRS is a serious and personal decison, and if a woman enjoys her
penis and it doesn't cause her angst, then GRS very likely wouldn't be
indicated for her.

But whatever her decision I would hope that she is armed with accurate
data, so as to make an informed decision.
