I'd say it's a toss up. Politicians'll hump anything that moves and can be written off as a campaign expense.

I actually hate it when any politician is outted for an affair, even if it's a Republican and even if he's a loud mouth hypocrit. Most politicians are far from being squeeky clean. Usually it's payback for voting against the powers that be and I just don't think that it's in the publics best interest to have our elected officials blackmailed.

I don't see this case as a great tragedy/loss for the country but the Clinton and Spitzer affairs most certainly did hurt the nation.
