Speaking for myself, and I think I speak for a good majority of men on this, it ultimately comes down to a matter of a woman's personal hygiene. Think of it this way: have you ever gone a couple of days without putting on deodorant? If so, then you know that odor gets absorbed by your underarm hair, and it takes more than a couple of days worth of normal washing and antiperspirant use to get rid of it. So imagine a woman not using any sort of deodorant "downstairs" and letting the hair grow wild. Pretty disgusting, don't you think? I'm sure there are men out there who groom themselves for the same reason, too.
Point being: critical thinking is a must, but let's watch the over-analyzing, huh? Sheesh...
