I never watched Lost, but from what I heard the show was not made to last more than ~2 seasons and the writers had to make stuff up and drag elements out as they went along. Any truth to that?

it could be true but i think the last 3 seasons have been the best.

This is my favourite show, though I don't understand half of what happens in it.

I heard that it was always meant to last for seven years.

The writers strike of a couple of years back put a spanner in the works. They had to cut a season short and push some of the story lines back to later seasons.

The producers always had a beginning, middle and end in mind when they started the story. However, television being what it is they had to be flexible about delivering the details in the story. You never know when this will be your last season.

I am looking forward to the end of it. Once I know what the heck is going on I plan to go back and watch all the episodes again from the beginning.

Hi Leora. Where is that poetry from in your signature? Is it from a bigger work? I'd like to read more of it.

    You're pretty!

no, they said last year durin the writters strike it affected the show but not in a big way, they always planned on making the last 2 seasons shorter than normal, about 16-17 episodes, and season 4 was short cause of the writters strike, it just helped them.

to be honest i love this show, but im now offically lost at the "spoiler thing" in season five, i dont think they fully explained enough how it happened for it to make sence...which i think is the point of the show.

i guess we'll find out next year how it all pulls together.

Loved season 1, some of the best TV ever. However, my girlfriend and I found everything after that to be unwatchable.

All the evidence I can see is that they really had a strong idea for 1 season, and everything after that has been time-wasting fluff.

Talking with a friend last night -- we were laughing at how much hope everyone's putting on season 6 "answering questions". Consider other stuff like Battlestar, Twin Peaks, X-Files, the Sopranos: truth is, they really didn't have answers.

My bet: Cliffhanger at end of Season 6. Teaser for a possible movie or spin-off thereafter.

Good. That'll give me enough time to start watching the show.
