I don't necessarily need romance and love for me but a connection does add to a scene, it adds a lot. I won't say that that connection can't be faked but a very small percentage of porn actors can pull off that much acting. When they are trying to convey that connection and it doesn't exist it shows.
A lot of people think they are better actors than they really are.
