I cannot afford luxuries like escorts as much as before, so I go less often. One remarkable thing I've noticed is that the few girls who have my phone number will call me fairly often to drum up business. It has the strange effect of making me feel slightly guilty about letting them down when I have to make an excuse. They also called me before the recession, but now they call me much more often.

Well the economy hurt my business but a flood closed it, so I have been out of work and have not been able to afford an escort, some great ones have been to Chicago but alas I was unable to see them. Hoping to get a job cash and an escort soon.

Rates for NYC area "escorts", like everything else are greatly influenced by the high cost of living here.
Most any type of employment must pay more in NYC than say any place else other than parts of the Westcoast and perhaps the Boston area. It is one reason so many businesses have moved either down South, if not out of the country all together.
A Registered Nurse in Manahttan can start around $70,000 per year, while the same position would pay $50,000 or less say in Mobile.
Sad thing is that even $70K is often not enough to be considered solid middle class in NYC, again because of the cost of living. Even in this housing down turn, you can't find a decent house in a good part of the NYC area for less than about $350,000. A studio Co-op apartment or small one bedroom (and I do mean small), in Manhattan will run about 500,000.
Because NYC is so thickly populated (lots of apartments and or persons living close together),some hoes working indoors, try to see few days per day or week at a very high rate (if they have no other means of income), rather than a constant parade of dates in and out, to draw less attention to themselves. As Manhattan has become one huge playground for the rich, with fewer unwelcoming areas such as the Lower Eastside, Far Westside, Harlem and the Meatpacking District, used to be, there are less places for indoor or even outdoor hoes to work without complaints from area residents.

I am very fortunate and lucky that it hasnt affected me. I find that the majority of the clients I see the economy hasnt affected them either!
The people that are close to me or know me personally know that when I do see clients its for a minimum of 1,500 or more and no less.. Just have no need to! Thank God!
Hope our new great president is able to pull us out of this mess! Sooner than later!

ive noticed more people calling to try and negotiate rates, but when i hang up on them they always call back and say ok ok. Its a good thing i have a gr8 reputation as a quality provider with excellent reviews. Im getting even more calls now from new clients who have cruised TER. I guess they figure if they're gonna splurge they wanna make sure it's gonna be worth it

It has definitely affected my habits. NO more escorts, no more smoking and no more drinking.
Damn, it looks like this recession just might save my life.

"The economy" will vary from place to place. According to this the poverty rate here in IL has increased by 27%
The economy effected me indirectly. My landlord got foreclosed on. There were warning signs.Literally first the gas/water getting cut off, then a nice letter from the bank demanding full rent for a period when they did not own the building, and telling all the tenants to get the eff out.
You could say I got taken out in the housing collapse before the more general troubles began.
I handled my own business just fine, paid my bills on time, and saved some money (That's why I could afford to get the work I'm having done, done and pay off allot of old bills).
I haven't escorted since then. I haven't really needed to.

I would say it's affecting but in a good way. Now clients are more inclined to spend with the person with a good rep, not gamble 300 for a total nightmare of an hour. I've read Ruby's reviews and not one bad, so I would rather go for the sure thing for my buck. It beats spending 150 on a "bargain" get dissapointed and then have to come off 400 to get my pleasure. It's simple supply and demand.
