West Coast G-Funk rap was mostly what my friends and I listened to back in those days, so although I might've heard about it on evening news it didn't really have an impact on us (no offense to Cobain/Nirvana fans).

No worries. Not everyone's cup of tea. I was into about everything at that time..punk, "grunge", hip hop (great canadian artists back then)
