Something I have an issue with is the bullshit I hear from people about interracial porn killing one's career.

1st off let's look at the word and then the ignorance of some folks.

"Interracial" meaning sex between people of "different" races.

I don't think titling porn as "interracial" is any more oppressive than using the label shemale, its just the name of the genre (no matter how antiquated....).

I was actually a little bit nervous about the whole idea of shooting a specifically "interracial" scene, especially since I've worked with a variety of women and men from many different ethnic backgrounds and it was never labeled interracial.

Porn is a unique world, one that in many ways is a microcosm of society. It is a profit driven industry, but at the same time is composed of people and consumed by people of many different backgrounds, and thus has broader social mores and prejudices. The reality is that whiteness holds some kind of capital, just like heterosexuality does, and is seen as some sort of standard to uphold or attain. So shooting a scene with a white girl and a black guy is breaking the norm of white girls with white guys, just like shooting a scene with a guy and a TS is breaking a boundary of heterosexuality in the straight porn world.

But aside from all of the social contexts that interracial porn exists in, hot porn is hot porn. And white guys don't have a corner on the market of hotness, period. White girls are not the pinnacle of sexiness, period.

I'm happy to work with talented performers, and I'm happy to fuck hot people, and day any time. As long as this is not the norm in the industry interracial porn will provide a place to challenge this in an intentional way, and I think that is a good thing. I think that porn should be at the forefront in challenging social conventions not obeying them.
