Ruby, I am impressed how you handle yourself on this board. Often times, like in this thread, you don't take the bait on people trying to drag you down. Other times, when it seems timely and appropriate, you don't back down, you stand your ground, and dish it right back. Your stories are well written, and your concerns are legit, most of the time. If I remember right... you're in your mid or late 20's, and I'd say you're quite mature and experienced in life. Those are things that will come in handy in the broader workforce.
A couple of ideas....
Take a good look at your work history, even those jobs from way back when. When I take inventory of some of my very early jobs (30 yrs ago!), I marvel at how different they were... glass cutter, unloading produce trucks, putting up hay for farmers, back room food preparation, and hardware stock boy. Some of these jobs I really enjoyed. My point is there could be some hidden diamonds in your employment history that are a good fit for a position today.
Second, think about possible jobs that might be needed in this down economy. One that comes to my mind is someone who has initiative to put together housing co-ops, or even help transition people btwn housing situations. It's not just the foreclosed upon who are looking for new housing. Many others are economizing, going from solo living situations to group situations. Go to rental placement agencies, etc., and tell them you're interested in helping them fill up their apartments, houses, etc.
No knock against secretary, admin asst jobs... but your extroverted personality is largely wasted there. Show an employer you work well with the public and can close a deal, and they'll hire you. And if there's one thing good escorts are good at... it's closing the deal.
Good luck!

my .02 cents
Tika I've read what you had to say in response to Ruby's question posted here in this thread and quite honestly it's appalling. She genuinely asked a question to better her life and you IMO looked to tear her down mentally. Your choice of words towards her were demeaning and my question to you is: What would you do if you were fired tomorrow and no other temp agency or medical provider offered to hire you? Please don't bullshit around saying you wouldn't consider escorting because let's face it, unless you're a crossdresser and can still throw on some dockers and a dress shirt you'd have a difficult time landing a job in these dire times.
Is it possible that you could have been sincere and humane towards Ruby and possibly told her how you slithered into the medicare field? Sure it is.....
Is it possible you could have supported someone who like it or not is a sister of yours in this lifestyle? Sure it is
Yet the best response you had was to try and insult her and anyone else like her on this forum who might have been curious about taking the path she's starting to walk.
Shame on you.................

Ruby, Times are tuff right now but whatever you do, just believe in yourself and don't give up.
Good things will eventually come!
