So how does payment for the performer work with this type of thing?

AKA why would a performer take the time and effort to promote a video?

Do you get extra cash if the DVD sells well? Perhaps extra bookings in the future? Is it just kudos, bragging rights?

What's the driver?

I can only speak for myself but, I try and promote every DVD that I'm in to sum extent. Its not all about the money because we sure don't get any royalties from these companies. I guess its sort of self satisfaction. All that work we put into these scenes, and trust me its not as easy as it may seem, when the finished product is complete we are proud of what we have accomplished, what we are apart of. Kinda like "look everyone, look at me in this great DVD." I mean why do all that work to be unnoticed. The money is good but not that good. Thats my main reason.
And on top of that, if your DVd scenes sell well then of course producers and directors rememeber that and book you more often, so eventually I guess it is more money in our pockets, and sometimes depending on the girl, we can demand more for our next scene. Then you have the AVN noms, etc. All of these things are important when you are a true porn actress, its not all about the immediate dollar, its about promoting yourself now, so that you will have a name and be remembered in the future...thats long term wealth.
