Most of the airbrushing and retouching I've seen are either flat-out terrible (as in too heavy with the brush and inconsistant with the rest of the skin, etc) or just overdone with filters. I'm barely a novice with Photoshop, but I've done more realistic touch-ups than what I usually see.

With that said, I think minor editing (for blemishes and whatnot) wouldn't hurt.
