Whats with the annoying camera lenses used for Grooby vids?

Most of the Grooby vids I see are filmed with some weird "fish-eye" lens that distorts everything around the edges. It makes the vids look like crap and is annoying

I've only noticed it on Frank's! I mentioned it in another thread, but got no response. Guess everybody thinks it's cool, but it RUINS a video. It's very amateurish, but maybe they think it's creative, like when they turn the camera upside down so the couch is like it's on the wall ---- just shoot the scene. It's porn not Star Wars!

Sometimes the videos are shot in very small hotel / motel rooms.... you need a wide angle if you want to see something descent.... I bet thats why they use the fish eye so much... because of the locations.

Not everyone is kink.com that can have full studios, and the camera man is at good distance from the frame to shoot.... in some hotel rooms, having such distance that you can see the entire bed would imply basically stepping outside the room.... so solution? get a fish eye and have more stuff on frame.

'Fraid not! Can't agree with that, because in Frank's case his vids start out fine and normal, then for no reason it's like I'm peeping thru a peephole (usually just when I'm getting a boner, causing me to turtle, lol)Did the room suddenly change? Doubt it!

Yes it can be very annoying. If they want to be creative, i wish they would do more public shoots. I made some screens of one of the annoying fish eyed shoots.

Yeah I agree I don't care for that look either and I'm fairly sure that Frank is the only photographer that over-uses it (we have it on occasional scenes on some of the Brazilian sites.
The reason it is used at all, is it's the only way to get the cock, the face, the feet, all fitted in - so often they'll do that as one of the cumshot camera angles and edit it with a wider shot.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll mention it to the photographers in my email to them all for changes in 2009.
