Re: What is The Last Movie You Watched?
Curious to see this film now --
And recommending: They Live by John Carpenter.... Actually, almost anything by Carpenter.
His best films, of course, were done in the 70s and 80s. Later films don't have the same edge/depth/filmic fright --

Re: What is The Last Movie You Watched?
Loved “They Lived”, Ben! a lovely anti Regan era type of capitalism metaphor. Not very deep but of course funny, entertaining and efficient, eloquent!

Re: What is The Last Movie You Watched?
"Iron Sky" - a Finnish made film, in English, which is one of the worst films I've seen in years. Quite unbelievably inept. The idea is that an American space mission disdovers a Nazi colony on the dark side of the moon - preparing to invade earth. Conceptually it could be funny or even thrilling. In the event it bungles every possibility - bad acting, bad writing, siily effects. Utterly inane.

Re: What is The Last Movie You Watched?
"Looper" - a sci fi film that has excited most critics. It's about time travel and borrows from lots of other films. The trouble is that though it has some intiguing ideas it is done in a ham-fisted shoot-em-up fashion. None of the characters are more than cardboard cut-outs to allow special affects and mayhem to take centre stage. I yearn for good sci fi that treats us a adults - exploring the genuinely intriguing ideas of time travel with real people you could care about and believe in. They do exist but they are as rare as hen's teeth.

Re: What is The Last Movie You Watched?
Just saw The Master with Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman. An excruciating look into the character of an alcoholic and a somewhat askance look into the life and character of an fringe-religious cult leader. Yes the acting is superb...but beyond that, can anyone tell me what all the fuss is about???

"...the order in creation which you see is that which you have put there, like a string in a maze, so that you shall not lose your way". _Judge Holden, Cormac McCarthy's, BLOOD MERIDIAN.
