    Default Re: Favorite Christmas Movie.

    "Joyeux Noel"/Merry Christmas."

I wonder if anyone else has seen this? And great that it's a French/German/British co-production. It depicts an almost mythical but true happening at the first Christmas of the First World War when the ordinary soldiers on both sides in several sectors on the western front defied their generals and fraternised, celebrated, sang and drank together.

One of the great "if only's" of recent history. It's flawed, but its heart is absolutely in the right place. Worth seeing if you can find it.

As a first world war obsessive, I wrote a song about these events some time before the film came out. Although I say it myself it's one of my best and I've sung it at least ten times in clubs this season already. Nothing quite like tears in the audience!

    Anyway, get the dvd.

But pleasures are like poppies spread
You seize the flow'r, the bloom is shed
