As state district attorney Mr. Brown was required to file regardless, he merely changed his position.

This is not surprising since Mr. Brown is widely considered to run for governor, and would need as much popular support as he can get.

Politics is all about judging which party you offened/hurt when making any decision, which ties into who/how will you get elected and re-elected.

Best way I've seen this put in in the film "Best Little Whorehouse In Texas", where the governor waits for final poll results before deciding to shut down the "chicken ranch". *LOL*

An interesting development, to me is that Ken Starr, most famous for pursuing the Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky is now the lead attorney for those trying to invalidate gay marriages which have already taken place.
