    Default Job Opportunities?

I dont expect this thread to last long. Everyone talks smack about how an escort should stop hoeing and find a legit job, lets see how many of them stop flapping their lips at the chance to downtalk a ts and start actually helping!

I've been considerring getting back into the SO CALLED real world. I know jobs are scarce right now with the economy screwed up, but it would be nice to have a regualr routine and commute with all the "normal" people again.

So if anyone knows of any good job opportunities that will not discriminate against TS women please feel free to post. Im gr8 with people, well spoken and a quick learner. And i'm looking for something in the area of secretary/receptionish/assistant/clerical work.

BTW im asking all my clients about potential job oppotrtunities as well. I've already been offered a job in NJ at a hilton hotel :P

Ruby...it's tough out there. I'm sure someone would speak up if they were in your area (outside NJ/NY is kind of pointless).

I'm a graphic designer with 12 years experience and it's a struggle even for me. I can suggest something that helped me when I arrived in Toronto. I hooked up with a head hunter for graphic designers. I was getting steady work for about a year...before the economy started taking a dive. Perhaps hook yourself up with a temp / head hunting agency.

But the ultimate suggestion I have for you is school. Most of the time employers need to see credentials (unless you have around 10 years experience ). Where you're starting down a path, it's probably a good idea to train towards the career you want. A lot of schools will also place you in jobs towards the end of the course.

Just some thoughts. I hope you land something.

Just another warning. And I'm not saying this person offering you a job is like this...but I have tgirl friends here who have been "offered" work or something to that effect. I've learned that people could be after something more in these situations. Just be careful.

If you want a job like that I would suggest contacting a local temp agency. If you have decent typing skills (good word per minute speed) and you aren't asking for an insane amount you should be able to find something. Usually these positions are temporary but if you show skill and work hard they can become permanent. I am actually looking for work myself but have put off contacting my local agency because I don't want to be stuck behind a desk all day. Unfortunately for me I cant fall back on being a hot in demand escort.

Verizon and At&t are hiring. Verizon is pretty trans-friendly. AFAIK they're always hiring...for something.

or how about an MTA operator?

They start and like $27 or $28 and hour. It's a $60 application fee though.

If you're serious, it would be a good idea to sit down with an employment counselor and figure out what you have for marketable skills. Being an escort means you've got a big gap in your work experience - that's going to have to be explained in some cases.

It would be a good idea as well to drop ANY kind of attitude you have. You're not going to get the kind of money you did as an escort. You're also going to have to work with people, not just shake your ass and get easy money. There's a reason people become escorts, I find. It's usually because they've got no other useful skills. That and they're lazy.

Also, don't get it in your head that any specific business discriminates against transwomen. It's on a case by case basis. If you make a good impression with a person, they may well hire you no matter what the official business position is. Conversely, you may apply to a "trans-friendly" business and not get anywhere just because you've got nothing to offer.

Being an escort is not a career. It's a job, and a poor one at that. Sure, the money's good, but most of you just piss it away on expensive clothes, jewelry, etc. and don't save or invest. You're not building any useful job skills, unless you want to fuck your way into getting hired.

Good luck, but I doubt you'll make it - to be quite honest. If you had the fortitude or temperament to work at a real job, you'd have done it already instead of choosing to be a whore.
