More generalizing on admirers straight or gay?
I always felt there were two types of admirers. And this has been further confirmed by my experiences in business.
There are some men, and I would say they are in a slight minority, that are truly heterosexual men (as I see them), that is they look for and appreciate a transsexual woman as a woman first, her anatomy is secondary. They show great appreciation for the feminizing efforts we make and these are the men who often make comments that "TS are more feminine than natural born women." They pay little to no attention to our dicks, and often are beyond the lingo of "tops" and "bottoms". These guys are the best of the bunch, in my opinion, they look for a true relationship with a transsexual woman. They are not into discreet motel hookups and have no problem in public. These men approach the entire relationship and view of a transwoman in a hetero context, that is the TS is just another woman (there is no significant distinction), and it is for this reason I describe them as hetero.
The other type of admirer, understand there are some who fall in between, is focused on shemale dick. They are often men with full lives, often married, and in general are looking for sex more than love. As an escort I can confirm this as about 75% of my clients are married. They seek an experience lacking in their home life. They experience excitement exploring a passable, alluring woman with a lively cock. I do emphasize lively- many of these guys will directly ask on the phone, "are you functional?" some even go too far and wanna know how much I cum bla bla bla those dudes I hang up on. For these men, the focal point is cock, although it is still the entire package. In other words, it is not a purely gay fixation or else he would be with another man not a transsexual (for those types any adult bookstore will do they can get cock for free). It is this second type of admirer I view as much closer to gay because of their cock-oriented interest. It's also worth noting that from my perspective, I personally don't view the experience as gay. He doesnt make me feel any less a woman instead I view him as a straight male with homosexual curiosity.
I would not classify these two types as gay. I would say the cock-fixated admirer does focus greatly on anatomy and in some cases there could be confusion/denial with homosexual desires. Still, his desire to be with a woman makes his interest different from a man-on-man fantasy. I do believe however, that when a man desires to be fucked that crosses the line. There is undoubtedly something gay about a man wanting to be fucked by a cock, regardless of who it is attached to. That is not a judgment, it is simply an observation.
The whole notion of transsexualism is rooted in some degree of bisexuality, simply by definition. That is not to deny the heterosexual admirer his "straight" label. It's kind of like he's saying, "OK, she has a dick, so what? It doesn't mean I need to mess with it." If the trans woman behaves/acts/looks like a natural woman that places their relationship squarely in the straight zone. I say transsexuals are rooted in bisexuality merely as a description of our starting point. It is what direction we go that defines identity and sexual orientation. If a TS identifies as a woman, she will make efforts to present as such and eventually her original gender is meaningless and her genitalia is incidental.
These are my gross generalizations. The shredding will now begin.

Without ranting too much...
I think there needs to be a 3rd gender - I have always said it

Straight and Gay are both more complex social constructs rather than just simple sexual labels. But whether they are incidental or instrumental, if both partners have the same geniitals, neither can claim to be 100 per cent straight. I'm not sure why there is so much resistance to being 90 per cent straight,, 90 per cent is still an A on almost any report card.

Just my two cents...personally, I agree with Danielle.... I have always believed that there is a Third Gender/Sex, although getting a definitive description of attributes and characteristics is almost impossible, since it will vary from person to person. In my view, the Third Sex represents a sensual melding of the best qualities of both genders....
It seems the world is hung up on catagorizing everything, as if there were no shades of gray between the stark opposities of black and white. For me, it's an attraction to a truly liberated person who has the courage of their convictions - no small task these days.

The guys you like the most, the guys who basically ignore your cock, are probably the same guys who refuse to eat pussy. To me, they're missing out on a glorious part of sex. There's nothing like getting your partner off in a wild way. The smells, tastes, sounds and feeling of performing oral on any sexual partner is awesome.
Also, I think there is something sort of repressed about someone (guy or girl) who refuses to perform oral. I think it's a sexual hangup all in itself.

We assign categories because thats our collective inclination as a society. Individually we, not all but some, allow ourselves to be more broad minded. I did at the outset describe these as "gross generalizations" semi-sarcastic because any categorization of sexual preference is slighting someone somehow.
From the TS standpoint, and I'm sure all TS can agree on this, we have a vantage point you guys can never have. That is, we are the recipient of your attention and can see differences in each man's desires. There is no doubt some "straight" guys have gay tendencies and their TS interest is sparked. I've been with guys that swear they've never had sex with a man and guys who freely admit it, it is I will agree a wide spectrum.
I'll also agree with Felecia there are bisexual tendencies in almost everyone and 90% is probably a common figure for most heteros and homos. That is, pick a typically straight guy, and if he were to go through all his sexual thoughts at some point some time he at least thought about a gay encounter.
