What's your best method to escape a bad date?

I've typically ended bad dates in the same manner I've ended relationships that turn particularly bad: I simply say, "We're done." I then get up and leave without any explanation or further contact. It typically comes out of the blue. I've done this more than once while stopped at a traffic light, as a passenger in a car, during my time living in NYC. (It was easy to simply catch a cab or take the subway home.)
