honey, as always, you just seem to say the right thing. Or you're endorsed for the Nobel or I'm just lovin'you. Anyway, I think and I hope Obama'll win. But I also think Mr. Mc Cain is an honest guy. As for arabs, quoting Sting 'I hope they love their love their children too'

Good point, but there is no point to have a civil movement for each ethnicity. We need everyone, and especially those minorities that suffered the most in the past from discrimination to stand up to all injustice against any ethnic group. It's 2008 guys. Racism should be a thing of the past.

Never said there needed to be. Just my observation that when a few bad apple emerge, a whole race/religion/sex/species/etc. is held accountable.

If Obama was a Muslim or an Arab, which he is not, why would that
    be problematic?

Is it because America and Europe has a propensity to glorify and defend
all things Judeo-Christian, and to demonize all things Islamic.

What we have done in the West is objectified Muslims and made them
modern day 'boogey men', much as we did the so-called 'godless
Africans, Native American, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Russian' or
whatever group we were at odds with, who were different than us, and
whose goals did not meet our's.

Islam is not a religion of violence and terrorism. There is nothing in the
Suras of the Qu'ran, the hadiths, that advocates violence.

I will concede that there are elements of Sharia law that are draconian in
their implementation, particularly vis-a-vis gays. Yet we see that there
are fatwas or edicts issued by Imams allowing gender re-assignment
    surgery.

    Hardly, not even close.
Do you think Arabs situation is worse or better than that of blacks in the 60s?

My view of the Koran is that there is a spiritual/peaceful side, but there is also a war side. The society that Muhammad was born into, and lived in, had a lot of warfare between groups. Muhammad brought spiritual revelation from God, according to his believers, but he also had increasingly do battlefield type of instruction and administration for his growing empire. So it still comes down to choice, of which religious instructions are most important, for daily life and long term happiness. The vast majority wish to live their lives in peace, I believe. My own spiritual discernment tells me that some of the Prophet’s harshest instructions were meant specifically for the battlefield at that time. “Holy war” was an important new concept at the time, because people were only fighting for material bounty and political/territory control, before his new concept of war. Islam brought many positive things to a lot of the people who were brought under its control, including a more humane treatment of women. There are ‘war’ passages in the Bible as well, but most people interpret it to be for a specific reason of the situation at that moment in time.

I believe that religious leadership, in Islam and every other religion, helps people to prioritize which principles are the most important in their time. Peace is an idea which can be spread as well as practiced. The United States has the most weapons of war, and also is responsible for helping to arm numerous governments around the world. Therefore I say, the US has the greatest responsibility to promote peace.

The problem with Arabs is that they speak Arabic.
