Glad I watched it, Obama should get the win by my lights as I thought he had a better grasp of the issues. McCain seemed to have a more aggressive stance, and more powerful delivery... but he pulled up to many flat out lies for me (not that Obama is blameless in that category.)

Sadly I think the American public will give McCain the nod off this, as we tend to like bullies. The Dems should be able to pull this one out no issue... but I think the ball may have been dropped already. As Mathews pointed out over and over... we had hard economic realities to punch home with... and Obama just won't punch. Dodge, parry... sure... but without the thrust he won't win.

Obama wore his flag pin, McCain did NOT. I guess he (McCain) hates our soldiers and our freedoms. :>)

All the post-debate polling seems to give the win to Obama, which I think is spot on, but Obama could have handed McCain his nuts with all the material McCain has given him over this campaign. I have to think it was intentional for Obama not to, to avoid looking like a jackass, which is what McCain did look like through most of the night.

Also, calling yourself a maverick is pretty pathetic.

@revinsx: Bush was a deserter and cheney was a draft dodger. That didn't preclude them from running the country. Moreover why don't you ask the other POWS with McCain (finished 396 in a class of 400) in the "Hanoi Hilton" why they called him "songbird"? My original remark was a facetious one. Obama was severely criticized earlier this year for NOT wearing a flag pin. Now in an important debate MCCain fails to do the same and nary a peep from anyone. The usual republican hipocracy. BTW: re vet issues, MCCain voted 8 times AGAINST giving US vets additonal benefits. Sounds to me he hates them.

If you Yanks don't vote Obama in you will not only make things worse for yourselves but for the rest of the world too. With him and the English government working together (I don't believe all that "special bond" shit, business is business !) a lot could be achieved !

What makes me laugh, is what a percentage of you look for in a candidate, its ridiculous. If the election race was going on over here McCain would have been laughed out just on the basis of being a doddery old man, despite the fact that Obama has a superior intellect, presentational & speech skills.

I watched the debate on BBC News24, McCain was laughable, constantly avoiding the issues and trying to put himself over, I found myself screaming at the TV "old man your party has just cost the American people trillions upon trillions of dollars, who will vote for you".

Obama has a stronger team, fresh ideas, clear plans for the future and the last time his party were in power your country had a strong economy. What does McCain offer ?

I just hope the proportion of your country that have narrow minded views realise they are being screwed and get over the fact that Obama is black........but knowing your country McCain will get in !

I personally feel this is a massive turning point in history and it greatly upsets me that its in your country's hands !
