Default Washrooms in Brazil - Men's, WOmen's and now T-Girls

Brasilia.– An extra room with a “T” on the door is to appear soon next to the ordinary “M” and “W” bathrooms.

That’s how the authorities of a Brazilian city Nova Igausu, not far from Rio de Janeiro, decided to solve the problem of people’s biased attitude to transsexual individuals.

“It’s time we put an end to injustice,” stated the city hall representative. There are up to 28,000 transsexual people living in the city with the 800,000-strong population.

Local authorities have passed the law that requires the owners of cafes, stores and other public places to provide transsexuals with separate bathrooms.

By having girls use separate bathrooms?

If there is an anti trans bias like the article said, now all these girls who go and use the "T" bathroom will be outted to anyone who sees them enter or leave it.

800,000 people, if half are 'girls' that is 400,000.

If 28,000 are T-Girls then that means that 7% are T-Girls.

    That means 1 in 14 women is a t-girl.

    That is totally awesome.

If I went I'd spend all my time thinking - is she, isn't she etc.

Everything in life is our fault, but that's not our fault.

I was thinking that, myself. "28,000?! THAT MANY?! HOLY CRAP I'm living in the wrong country.""

Nova Iguaçu is a city near Rio de Janeiro, in a region called "baixada fluminese". It's a poor city in a poor region, but at the same time, it has some industries who pays taxes and fees, but the mayor dont use to benefit the population. So its the worst city to live in, it records the worst rates of development.
Regrettable, also create policies of marketing, which are in fact discriminatory and retrograde, common of the Workers' Party, the same of President Lula.

that's interesting.....im not sure what to say besides that. On one hand thats cool because the city seems to be getting T-friendly but at the same time I feel that this is strangely familiar to the whole "water fountains for the colored" situation we had during the whole civil rights upbringing back in the day.....so really, by them trying to be more tolerant they're actually coming off as more ignorant.

then again, if you're a T and don't want it to be known would you just ignore the signs and continue using the same restroom you always used? what kinda penalty (if any) would be imposed on you if you were in the wrong restroom??

Ok, I think im goin too far....brazil's got themselves in a pickle i think/........

There won't be any urinals in the 'W' restrooms, and how are you going to spot the t-girl in a closed stall?

Agreed, this is more discrimination than positive action.

Elvis: I was dreamin'. Dreamin' my dick was out and I was checkin' to see if that infected bump on the head of it had filled with pus again. If it had, I was gonna name it after my ex-wife 'cilla and bust it by jackin' off.

Yea I'd have to agree with you there. This "3rd gender" shit is a solution looking for a problem that never WILL exist.
