    Default becoming Transgender

I just turned 30 and I recently wanted to become a shemale and I am wondering what the steps to become a transgender? Is there surgery to speak more feminine or is it voice training? I know breast implants, but I don't know the cost of getting decent breast implants. I am going bald, so I guess growing out my hair isn't a option, so probably a wig. Wondering if someone could help me with their wisdom to become a good shemale. I am a bit nervous.

Are you sure that cross dressing isn't more up-your-alley? "Becoming transgender" isn't something you just do; you've either lived most of your life feeling like you've been trapped in the wrong body or you haven't. In a way, that's kind of like a straight man asking "How do I become gay? I really like sweater vests and feathered hair cuts".

I don't want to be too quick to judge, but there's plenty of information online and if you'd taken the time to research it a bit, you probably wouldn't have said "I recently wanted to become a shemale" because 'shemale' is more of a porn industry term and unless you're specifically talking about transsexual porn, the term is inferred as a bit of an insult.

If I have this figured all incorrectly and your intentions are sincere, check the links below:

    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=transgender+support+groups
You may want to search for transgender or LGBT support groups in your area by including your zip code in the google search. That should at least point you in the right direction.

Keep in mind that HungAngels isn't any type of trans* support forum. Hanging around here too much will likely provide you an incredibly skewed perspective of the community.

    http://www.secondtype.info/index.html

This website covers various aspects of male-to-female transsexuality. I developed the site and wrote the articles between 1999-2002, which I consider to my transition period. It is thus research supplemented by personal experience.
There have been no major changes since 2004, although I very occasionally make some small updates, corrections, additions, or apply requested deletions. Also, some of the original images and articles have been deleted to comply with "permitted use" policies. Whilst somewhat dated, I hope the information is still helpful.
The site has been erratically available at numerous web addresses since its origin - indeed it's almost a history of the web as it moved through Geocities, Tripod and Yahoo. Most notably the site was available at the URL www.annierichards.net until mid-2004, and then at www.secondtype.com until early 2010. I can give no guarantee as to how long this address will remain live!
With or without my permission, copies of the pages seem to be widely available on the internet, appear on various boards, and are even used on academic portals. I thus now consider my articles to be 'public domain', but do appreciate an acknowledgement if they are copied.
I'm always delighted to hear from readers, contrast experiences and perhaps attempt to answer any questions. My email address is annie.richards@hotmail.com.

GrimFusion is on a roll tonight Good advice there.

It's essential you speak to a transgender counsellor/doctor before you embark on such a journey...

I am sorry for using that term grim. I would cross dress if It would fill my desire I have... In a way I am jealous of how women look in the beautiful clothing they get to wear (skirts, dresses, ect. While men have boring looking clothing.) Sure Cross dress would allow me to do that. But I would not get that full effect. I would have a sex change operation if I could afford it. I thought it through. Thank you for the advice and I will do that. Thanks everyone else as well.

Go to gender therapist for start.. he/she could help you on your situation.. seems like you need a good talk with a professional to begin with.

It sounds like you are having an early mid-life crisis or somethingm, but I could be wrong. Speak to a gender therapist. Do not expect to be passable as a transgender either even with all the surgeries. Many people wonder how it is to live as the opposite sex. There is no surgery to sound like a girl.... there are vocal surgeries, but it will not make you sound feminine (but can raise the pitch if you have an extreme deep voice) and you can destroy your vocal cords. Think about how it will affect your job and such. If you are doing this to run away from problems in your life and this is not for you. The cost of getting decent breast implants in the US is about $7k. Many companes insurances in the US will cover part of a GRS. Btw you should stop referring to yourself as a shemale, as that is usually a degrading term coined by the hateful. Which makes me wonder if you are in some fantasy developed from porn or are actually feminine inside. How were you as a child?

Speak with a gender therapist/specialist before you make any moves. Being transgender isn't a choice or something you 'become'. It's something that you are and have always been. I really suggest seeking therapy to sort out your feelings!
