Musical guilty pleasures
We all know it, bands/genres/songs that you know full well are terrible, yet can't resist loving.
I was going through some CDs I bought in high school. I was really into the emo-pop-punk thing. We're talking AFI - Sing the Sorrow, Rufio - 1985 and The Ataris - End is Forever.
Craptactular, yet playing the CDs I couldn't help punking out a little.
Some choice cuts
Bleed Black - AFI
Girls not Grey - AFI
Boys of Summer (Don Henley cover) -
White Lights - Rufio
Why Wait - Rufio
Uch, terrible, yet strangely awesome. Amusingly enough, a lot of these songs are arguably proto-forms for the hits from bands like Fall Out Boy. Crazy, crazy pop-cultural evolution.
Post your own, don't be shy!

Cool idea for a thread. Here's a song I play anytime I find it on a jukebox (which is pretty easy given the current jukebox technology). It's a stupid song, and the bars I play it in don't generally appreciate it, but I like it for some reason:

hey don't feel bad, AFI is a pretty good band. the boys of summer song was catchy too. i mean hell any of those are better than the soulja boy crap the radio is churning out these days.

Paris Hilton's first album.
Notice I said first? She's working on a sophomore release...without soon-to-be-bankrupt Scott Storch I think.
William Escalade is no more. He's done his service to the site.

Ah, exactly what we need, more Paris exposure. That said that first single from her, the ska-reggae song...not the worst thing I've heard...yeah, don't feel bad, you ain't the only one.
I think the reason the emo was really bad for me, I was a lovelorn young punk, and generally speaking the streety political punk bands that I liked didn't really sing about love, the emo bands sort of slotted in really wierdly. To make things worse I totally hated the posturing and the fakeness of most of the emo bands, local or otherwise, not to mention the idiocy of the emo people. It was very much an exercise in cognitive dissonance.
TheOne1, do you ever listen to Dragonforce? They're like the cheesiest bunch of 80s metallers ever. They had a huge windfall recently as one of their songs was on Guitar Hero 3.
I don't know if this song has hit the states, it's by a electro-clash kind of band.
My People - The Presets
Such an awesome club song when one is drunk and there's sweaty pretty people all around, terrible anywhere else. "Let me hear you scream if you're with me!"

Men without Hats: Safety Dance (I think this was where they gotten the Frodo inspiration! )
Kylie Minogue: Locomotion (This was playing at a hair salon I happen to passby at Melrose early today)
Stacy Q: Two of Hearts
Roxette: It must have been love
Ace of Base: The Sign
Falco: Der Kommissar
Cheesy videos and funky hair and all! lol

HURDLE #1: If guys would learn to stop over complementing, and not compliment every tranny (or girl) they see and talk to (so a girl would feel it was sincere and that she's special), maybe they'd get somewhere but a dead end! lol
