Racist Cartoons
Don't know if it's a repost but this is sad

Sad, yes, but some of us have moved on. Others need to see them again.
I have, as a hobby, an interest in urban transit history. A couple of years ago, at a railway museum of which I am a member, I was riding on an old Perley Thomas streetcar from New Orleans. Built in the 1920s and operated through the 1970s in that great city, these streetcars had holes drilled into the brass handles on the seatbacks.
A young black couple, with two small children, were on the ride with me. The children kept poking their fingers into the holes on the seatbacks. Seeing that I was familiar with the equipment, the father asked me if I knew what the holes were for.
"You know about the Jim Crow laws?" and to my amazement, he shook his head in answer: "No". It's bad enough to have some memory of such things, but to have to explain them to someone that they would have so deeply affected is worse. Though the family was aware of Rosa Parks and the Montgomery bus boycott, they had no idea that these simple holes on the back of the seats were for the mounting of signs that the conductor moved about the car during the day that said "Whites Only" on one side and "Coloreds Only" on the other. Similar signs, often finely crafted and lettered in fancy script, were used in Dallas, Houston, Miami, and Atlanta.
It's a shameful time in America's history, but to erase it from the collective memory would be the greater sin.

I remember these clips from when I was a kid. I remember "Amos and Andy" when it was on TV. I loved that show. It didn't seem all that racist except for the character "lightning".

It is pretty sad and pathetic you know what else is sad that this post won't generate as much attention as the racist escort thread,I wish the same people whom fight for such an ridiculous issue would put fought the same effort for real issues dealing with race.

That's how it is
Nobody will look at real world issues but personal issues that have nothing to do with nothing

@michneo: FYI, that cartoon clip is 50+ years old. The people who produced them are dead and buried. I assume you are looking for retribution of some sort. What do you propose?
