Police Say She Gouged Man's Eyes, Possibly Bit Off His Lower Lip
COSTA MESA Police say a prostitute was sexually assaulted and knifed by a would-be John in Costa Mesa but not before she was able to fight back and cause serious injury to the man's eyes and lips.

So, police are looking for a man whose eyes were gouged and whose lower lip might have been partially bitten off.

They say the man sexually assaulted the woman and also pulled a knife on her.

The man picked up the woman, based in Las Vegas, in Santa Ana and drove her to the area of Harbor and MacArthur boulevards in Costa Mesa, according to Costa Mesa police lieutenant Bob Ciszek.

Police said the woman was able to bite her attacker on the lower lip hard enough that he might have suffered a lip detachment.

She was also able to gouge the suspect's eyes, getting her fingernails on his eyeballs, Ciszek said, but whether he merely suffered swelling of the eyelids, or actual injuries to the eye was not known, Ciszek said.

During their intense fight, the woman suffered a stab wound to the side and cuts on her hands and face, he said.

She remains hospitalized in stable condition, Ciszek said.

The man was described as 30-ish, with a medium build, short curly hair, with a mustache and thick beard, Ciszek said.

The suspect will have "highly visible" injuries to his lower lip, eyes and face, according to Sgt. Brian Glass.

The vehicle was described as an older model maroon pickup truck with black work racks on the bed of the truck, Glass said.
