I hope this doesn't turn into a conspiracy theory thread of how HIV doesn't really exist.
Tom, I hope you are aware that the HIV=AIDS hypothesis is a medical hypothesis and not a proven fact. Medical literature says that if you have HIV you will 'most likely' develop AIDS, but there are people who are HIV positive and have not developed AIDS-and there is no scientific proof that everyone who is HIV positive will die of AIDS.

It's not a conspiricary theory- the fact is that there are medical proffesional and scientists who have different opinions on the matter of the HIV=AIDS theory.

    Such as: http://www.duesberg.com/.

If you believe in the status quo on this subject- then according -the PCR DNA test (such as used by AIM) would be the most reliable on detecting HIV.

I suggest everyone who is concered about testing for HIV should test for other diseases like Hep C, Herpes, HPPV, and all other STD's which can be more highly communicable than HIV.
Sure I'm aware of the counter argument against HIV. But I believe that people try to use it as an argument against using condoms and practicing safe sex which is a really bad way of thinking.

My analogy is, I've never seen a bear in real life. But I know they exist and I know they could seriously hurt you in the wild.

I'm aware of people that can carry the virus and never show any symptoms or test positive too. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be cautious with your life, that fact should make you MORE cautious.

I'm just saying holding up an example like Tommy Morrison or Magic Johnson is faulty. They've made advancements in treating the disease since the 80's and people still believe that it's a death sentence, you'll become skinny, purple spots, it's a gay disease, etc.
Being in the sex industry I have done A LOT of research on STD's, talked to several doctors, and read and read on the internet. I like to be aware on all sides of all issues to form my own opinions. Especially when it comes to medicine.

I've visited AIDS dissident websites- and truth be told, I have never see one that advocates not using condoms.

The same argument you are using is the same one also used by people who say that HIV has become a managable disease, therefore some people do not take it as serious and have a more lax attitude towards casual sex.

The fact is so many people are so blithely unaware of the multitude of STD's one can catch much easier thank HIV, like HEP C, that can also be very damaging.

I've always been a proponent of using condoms and being as safe as possible when having sex.

I talk to so many people who are so, so uneducated on these matters that it is quite frightening.

This is why we need better sex education in schools and give young people the right tools end information. And why people who are sexually active should be aware of the full spectrum of STD's.

I'm totally with you on people practicing safe sex.

If people lived their lives by a traditional moral standard there would be little need to be tested for anything regularly.

    How boring.

I haven't read most of this thread. But I do know that I went to get an HIV test last Friday at our local county health clinic - which has the new rapid one week infection test (meaning it will detect antibodies within one week of exposure not 3 months) and was told there was a three hour wait, that they could only see 3 patients an hour. Sheesh.

This is in San Diego, a city with 1.3 million people! When I was escorting a lot I got tested every 4-8 weeks and it was always a huge hassle often requiring multiple trips. Some clinics didn't want to test more than once every 6 months, and they all have long waits. So if anyone wonders why people are going around HIV pos - there is one reason. The govt makes it too hard to get tested.

And yet there are simple rapid tests like the saliva test that people could use in their homes. So what if there is a higher chance of a false positive. I'd far rather be able to test a new partner and get a false reading than be exposed to HIV from somebody who hasn't tested because they can't get into the damn clinic because the Bush administration has cut funding and wants everyone who has sex outside of marriage to die.

And no offense but even having covered sex I'd rather not have it with a partner who was infected and didn't know it. And if anyone wants to know - that's one reason why escorts cost so much, every date she puts her life on the line for you.

Have fun, play safe and get tested!
    TS Jamie

Yes you are right. I have been trained and certified by Ora-sure to administer the test. There is also a blood stick test that also offers a 20 minute test result.
I administer both at my job.
The Ora-shure test is 99.4% acurate
