The majority of TS people exist outside of the sex trade, and terms such as shemale are highly offensive. Probably to the extent of being illegal in countries with legislation protecting TS rights exists, such as the UK.

TS people in the adult enterntainment industry seem to be OK on the whole with shemale, particularly since it denotes precisely what they are selling. And the number of people in the adult entertainment business who don't escort is very, very small indeed. I can think of a few, but that is very, very few.

So why all the hoo-hah? Peggy's right, most TS people can and would object to being labelled as shemale. I'm on another board with several TS people who don't escort and it's clear they object vociferously to being labelled shemale or anything similar.

Nadia's right in the sense that people in the TS trade are smart enough to maximise their income potential. I would if I were TS and in the biz!

And in no uncertain terms am I trying to imply or give the impression
that being an escort or in porn is a bad thing ethically or morally.

I fully support the right of any woman pre, post, or natal to make choices
with their bodies. And I certainly understand why and how some
transwomen / transsexuals / transgenders are in the industry, particularly
with varying degrees of societal and legal barriers to employment in place.

Yet having said that there are many transsexual / trangendered who are
not in the industry. For these women the term 'shemale' isn't an accurate
term to describe them. And as has been stated, they too have the right
to decide how they chose to be identified.

We even find that many TS/TG who are in the industry prefer to be
identified just as women, or ladies, or similiar terms.

But bottom line it's the womans' choice.

industry for marketing purposes.

If you are referring to the women above, or the vast majority of
transwomen, then your figures are horrendously inaccurate.

I don't find Shemale a perjorative term. Infighting from ugly post ops towards sexy porn girls and other pre ops is stupid.

I do find the term degrading and only see it as a way to make money. Thats it. In my private life, the people I associate with just see me as a woman.Porn is a job, escorting is a job. They don't define me as a person.
