Awhile back, on a different site, some of us came up with a viable alternative third party candidate. Everything was going well, despite the fact that he was in fact a cricket who lived underneath an aquarium, but then this blonde girl killed him.

I don't believe her actions were politically motivated, but it was a great loss for the nation none-the-less.

Not that I am a fan of Ann Coulter...I am not. She is a shill for the republican party of course. and she is insanely over-the-top. But there are people who do the same thing for the Democrats. Not sure how anyone can attack Coulter while holding Michael Moore as a virtuous liberal.

I guess Robin Hood and the Sherriff of Nottingham were the same too? Ann Coulter preaches on behalf of the wealthy and powerful, from a pulpit of intolerance and divisiveness. Michael Moore takes on the wealthy and powerful, and is only intolerant of their selfishness and hypocrisy. if you want see some virtuous liberalism, you should watch Bowling for Columbine or Farenheit 911. He may be strident, but he sticks to the facts. And he is funny. Ann Coulter is strident, but she is more fictional than factual. And far from funny.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure anyone in this thread has actually ever heard more than a sound bite or two of Coulter.

Okay, then you have a point.... so for the benefit of everyone who's only heard one or two soundbites, here some real quotes by Ann Coulter, along with some comments of mine. Loooking at them I'm thinking, either she's off her rocker, or she's had too much crystal meth with her whisky, or, worse still, she really means everything she says.

She seems to seriously think that killing civilians in war is a good idea and thinks that the US has the right to impose its religion on others

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."

In this one she quite simply has no idea what she is talking about:

"Liberals become indignant when you question their patriotism, but simultaneously work overtime to give terrorists a cushion for the next attack and laugh at dumb Americans who love their country and hate the enemy."

She seems to have a rabid hatred of what she considers the liberal press:

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

She has only a very basic undertstanding of the Bible and an even weaker grasp on ecology:

COULTER: I take the biblical idea. God gave us the earth.

COULTER: We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees.
FENN: This is a great idea.
COULTER: God says, "Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours."

FENN: ... as fast as we possibly can.
COULTER: As opposed to living like the Indians.

She should've listened to more Marvin Gaye in her youth ('War is not the answer, only love can conquer hate').

"(Sheryl) Crow explained that the 'best way to solve problems is to not have enemies.' War solves that problem too: We won't have any enemies because we're going to kill them. Crow warned of 'huge karmic retributions that will follow.' She seemed not to understand that America going to war is huge karmic retribution. They killed three thousand Americans and now they're going to die."

She thinks that everyone who doesn't share her views is evil or stupid:

"There are a lot of bad republicans; there are no good democrats."

"Liberal soccer moms are precisely as likely to receive anthrax in the mail as to develop a capacity for linear thinking. "

"Whether they are defending the Soviet Union or bleating for Saddam Hussein, liberals are always against America. They are either traitors or idiots, and on the matter of America's self-preservation, the difference is irrelevant. "

She compares a man who plotted to kill thousands with liberals, as if she'd like to see Kent State happening all over again:

"When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty. We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors."
