Argentina Versus Brazil

Well I just got back from a trip to both Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo and wanted to provide a comparison for those considering a trip to South America. I've been to both cities before, but never back to back over the period of a couple of weeks so I put together some note for those interested in going to either country.

In terms of finding a date, I think that both cities offer a level of selection that is greater than what you would see in the United States as the overall population of Hung Angels in both cities is seemingly much larger. The ladies are very beautiful. You don't have to look far to find a companion. What's more is that they are very passionate and seem to enjoy their time with you. It is not uncommon that I have gone and partied with a girl and their friends after a date or at the end of an evening in both countries.

English: For those of you who neither speak Spanish or Portuguese then your opportunities to find a date diminish in both Argentina and Brazil. However, I find that a much greater proportion of Argentinian ladies speak English than do the Brazilians as it is their most common second language. The most common second language amongst Brazilians is Spanish. I would estimate that in Brazil one in every fifty girls speak English and in Argentina it is probably one of every ten.

Security: First, I will say that I've never been mugged, or otherwise the victim of any crime while in either country so I don't have any direct experience. However, I am able to infer the Brazil is probably a bit more dangerous. First, you can see that in general, people in Brazil are more cautious. They like to deal with cab drivers that they know, they don't carry anything expensive and don't venture out into certain areas. In Argentina, this is not the case and I think that the general attitude of people reflects that the feel safe in Buenos Aires. I think that Buenos Aires is as safe or safer than any big city in the United States.

Costs: Currently, the costs associated with staying in Buenos Aires are quite reasonable due to a still favorable exchange rate 1:3. In Brazil, US currency has suffered and is not at 1:1.75. As a result, Buenos Aires provides a real value. A 4 star hotel in Buenos Aires would set you back $120 per night (includes a hefty tax). Food, drinks and a night on the town are very reasonable and about 1/3 of what you would expect in New York. Sao Paulo is simply more expensive on all accounts.

First in Brazil since the language is such an issue for me, I called one girl that I knew in advance. I had met her on a previous trip and her English is really great. The other nights, I hung out at Elenise bar / restuarant which is a place extremely well known hub for the girls. Costs in Brazil are about between US $100 - $200 depending on the same sort of things that it would depend on in the US. I realize that some of the experienced people in Brazil will say that this sounds too expensive, but the higher end would include an extended period of time and a cab ride back to my place or to the girls place.

In Argentina, I called a girl who had been reviewed well on one of the sites on the first night there. There are a bunch of ads on Gemidos and Distinas. The review sites are DAMAZO Forums and this one: Sorry, but I've never seen one in English.
