    Default External Hard Drive Question

I need to get an external hard drive to back-up my digital mediia. On of the products I am looking at is the Seagate external 250G USB goes for around $75. I am not looking for anything complicated or with too many bells and whistles. Just something reliable, fast, and easy to use. Any suggestions / recommendations are appreciated.

    Thanks
    Rey

Co-sign. I've had my 250GB WD for over a year now with no problems.

Thanks for the feedback JWBL and Saifan.

What an effed up fourth quarter for Eli ... for the first time ever i was cheering for the baby and he got my hopes up for 3 quarters. The NYG defense should take the blame.

i have a seagate 7200.10 250gb internal. seems pretty good so far, nice and quiet. single platter, i believe.

not a big wd fan myself but always backup any drive of course and off-site as well if its important.

I dont trust any drive. I am glad Apple is considering new hard drive laptop concepts for the next MacBook due out in a few.

but for what it's worth I'll back Western Digital

    Maxtor IMO is russian roulette

I've got 2 western ditigal 250GB portables HD's for my labtop that store my Project data for work and school. They can be a little annoyin to carry but, I've never had any major problems with em, and i've drop one repeatedly. Still working.

Thanks BH - was thinking of getting a portable rather than a desktop HD. Portable might come in handy one day and they run off the USB connection.

there great, especially if you use multiple comps or travel alot while workin. they pug in, and are usable almost instantly. I;ve never changed from mac to pc or vice versa, but the do work from different Windows setups. even win 95 (LOL)

CMS are by the far the best. Check out http://cmsproducts.com/products_backup.htm
to see what they have available. If you are looking for reliability and ease of use then they are the ones to go with. Western Dig and Seagate quality has gone to crap.
