This Public Announcement advises U.S. citizens on security situations in Mexico that may affect their activities while in that country. This Public Announcement supersedes previous Public Announcements for Mexico dated January 18, 2007 and September 15, 2006. This Public Announcement expires on October 16, 2007.

Narcotics-Related Violence - U.S. citizens residing and traveling in Mexico should exercise caution when in unfamiliar areas and be aware of their surroundings at all times. Violence by criminal elements affects many parts of the country, urban and rural, including border areas. In recent months there have been execution-style murders of Mexican officials in Tamaulipas (particularly Nuevo Laredo), Michoacan, Baja California, Guerrero (particularly Acapulco), Nuevo Leon (especially in and around Monterrey) and other states. Though there is no evidence that U.S. citizens are specifically targeted, Mexican and foreign bystanders have been injured or killed in some violent attacks demonstrating the heightened risk in public places. In its effort to combat violence, the Government of Mexico has deployed military troops in various parts of the country. U.S. citizens are advised to cooperate with official checkpoints when traveling on Mexican highways.

In recent years dozens of U.S. citizens have been kidnapped in Nuevo Laredo with more than two dozen cases still unresolved and new cases of kidnap for ransom continue to be reported. No one can be considered immune from kidnapping on the basis of occupation, nationality, or other factors. Drug cartel members have been known to follow and harass U.S. citizens traveling in their vehicles, particularly in border areas including Nuevo Laredo and Matamoros. U.S. citizens who believe they are being followed should notify officials as soon as possible. U.S. citizens should make every attempt to travel on main roads during daylight hours, particularly the toll (“cuota”) roads, which are generally more secure. It is preferable for U.S. citizens to stay in well-known tourist destinations and tourist areas of the cities with more adequate security, and provide an itinerary to a friend or family member not traveling with them. U.S. citizens should avoid traveling alone as a means to better ensure their safety. U.S. citizens should refrain from displaying expensive-looking jewelry, large amounts of money, or other valuable items.

    LAND AND SEA TRAVEL
The following summarizes information available on the Department of Homeland Security’s website.

    * JANUARY 31, 2008
U.S. and Canadian citizens will need to present either a WHTI-compliant document, or a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, plus proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate. DHS also proposes to begin alternative procedures for U.S. and Canadian children at that time.

    * SUMMER 2008
At a later date, to be determined, the departments will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have either a U.S. passport; a U.S. passport card; a trusted traveler card such as NEXUS, FAST, or SENTRI; a valid Merchant Mariner Document (MMD) when traveling in conjunction with official maritime business; or a valid U.S. Military identification card when traveling on official orders.

The implementation date will be determined based on a number of factors, including the progress of actions undertaken by the Department of Homeland Security to implement the WHTI requirements and the availability of WHTI compliant documents on both sides of the border. DHS and DOS expect the date of full WHTI implementation to be in the summer of 2008. The precise implementation date will be formally announced with at least 60 days notice.

I heard the same warnings form border patrol on my way back to GA the last time I went. The guy was like "You dont know that there is a travel advisory saying that the cartels are fighting, and that US citizens shouldnt go to NL?" I was just like "Naw".

Now Ive been to Reynosa and Matamoros. Matamoros sucks. Police are VERY corrupt. The police put my friends in a truck and robbed them in a dark parking lot. There arent many TSs from what I seen either.

NL, they did the opposoite of the last post and took out the soldiers and put in local armed police. But its nothing to see PFP, AFI, Transito, and Policia driving.

I canbelieve the gov taking weapons and test firing. Im one of those people who naturally get into the bullshit and a lot of officers work for the cartels. Zetas are REALLY big in NL. REALLY big. But if I didnt get into the shit, I wouldnt know that. Like posted earlier, if you dont have experience in a 3rd world country or realistically cant consider yourself street smart, its not the place for you.

In terms of trying to buy pills, in NL just go to the pharmacy, fuck it. hey have a prescription price and non prescription price. GO straight to the pharmacy, dont go through a guy on the street. The sell Valium, Xanax, Steroids, Viagra, Cialis, all that shit.

Default ABOUT NUEVO LAREDO....YEA, I HAVE BEEN THERE.

First off to all the border town experts...you are full of shit. Most of you that talk crap about bordertowns have never even been there. you have just heard bullshit rumors by cowards just like you.

I have been to every mexican bordertown in the Mexico, including southern ones. I have ridden my motorcycle many times from San Diego down through La Paz and crossed on the ferry to Mazatlan and ridden as far south as Nicaragua. Yes I still live...imagine that.

I was in Nuevo Laredo 3 months ago and hit a few of the gay bars in Boystown and all I saw was ugly crackheads in wigs, but as I walked the streets back to my motorcycle at about 1am, I found the hottest, most passable young mexican tranny. For $60 we went back to her room and enjoyed a wonderful time.

Imagine, no police robbed me, my date did not upsell me. No one put drugs in my drinks. It was just a good time.

So, would all you so called experts that have never been to mexico or have been to mexico and you just got stupid and fucked with...just shut up.

I am a big fat White guy and never, never have I had any bad expierience in mexico and I have spent years there and fucked hundreds of hookers..both male and Shemale.

one more thing...Fear profits a man nothing! Live Large!

Default DO NOT LISTEN TO justatransgirl..SHE IS WAY OFF BASE

I suppose everyone like her wants to appear as an expert about something and that is why people like her will post misinformation.

crossdressing and being a transexual in Mexico is NOT ILLEGAL. They have the same rights as everyone. The police have stopped me with Trannies on the way to the hotel, politely searched me for drugs and then released us with no incident.

justatransgirl's post is completely off base and wrong. Don't let her bullshit turn you off of Tijuana.

I am a fat white guy and have never had an issue and I have lived there since I was 18 and I am now 45.

bye the way, your phone will work in T.J.

Here's a picture of a shemale in Boystown that I did long ago. It was a nice surprise to see her on ShemaleYum when I signed up.

I've been to Boystown about 6 times, and yes there are some damn ugly shemales there. But late in the evening, if you troll around the various bars, there's some damn hot ones in there lurking around too. Some of which were hotter than this girl.

In a hetero bar, there was a fine fine fine bunny blonde shemale that was dancing on the stage. There was a group of Marines in there who thought she was a GG except for me, and one Marine who, you could tell, knew what she was by the curious look he had about him. She went out back. I watched that Marine to see what he would do. He inconspicuously moved by the back door with his drink, peeked his head out, and stepped outside. I thought “Oh man I gotta see this for myself.” Sure enough, when his buddies weren’t looking, he was heading off to a room with her. Semper Fi!

    Default nuevo laredo

I am headed to the NL this weekend and I intend to have some more serious fun.

I think I will hit up Vitro's first and see what the action is like at about 11 pm. Might even go to Gusano's.

Anybody know of anymore clubs in NL that cater to the gay crowd? Not in boystown, I am looking for clubs in the downtown area.

Can you put me in your will before you take off? I hope the banditos are taking a siesta while you're passing through town. They've been known to hide Gatling Guns underneath their Sombreros so please be careful not to wake them.

It's hardly worth responding to "Mr. Two Posts," but I'm bored ,and this is the first person to flame me on here so grab your popcorn kids...

Honey doll please don't EVER tell me I'm full of shit again. You don't have any idea of who I am or who I was before I transitioned so don't put your foot into your mouth. If you had been around this site for more than 2 posts you would know I never make unsubstanciated claims.

I'll be in TJ next week to take my Mother to the dentist. We'll probably have dinner, you are welcome to waddle your fat ass over and join us - we can chat like adults, then maybe go get a cheap room and you can fuck the shit out of me, or we can shoot it out in the street. I don't care which.

As for everyone else - will you end up robbed or in jail if you go to TJ? Probably not.

Is it worth the chance - NOT if you are alone, don't speak spanish and don't know the town. You can get laid by a mexican TS on El Cajon Blvd or in National City for $60 if that's your bag - why bother with TJ?

As for rights - lemme see you have the right to be stopped while going about your lawfull business with a friend in mexico and be searched for drugs for no reason. And the fact that Tj cops don't choose to enforce laws against prostitution and crossdressing doesn't mean they don't exist.

Have I ever had a bad expereince with the police? NO. Because I speak spanish, I hold a mexican FM-2 resident visa, and I look like a woman.

And yes, my phone works in TJ - because it's set for international dialing, but many other peoples phones do not work there. So why bother taking it. Who are you going to call - your wife to tell her you're in the Tijuana jail - of having a great time with a cheap hooker?

So - go - have fun, and please don't call me for bail money.

    Giggle,
    TS Jamie

    Oh - I forgot -

If you've had sex like you say with hundreds of gay and ts hookers in mexico - my sex offer is off - I don't even want to know what you've got running around in your system.

All I know is I havent been into a situation I couldnt handle while there. I have had Boost, Nextel, TMobile, and Sprint phones all while I was in NL and they've worked, and Ive driven from NL, to Reynosa, to Matamoros. I had horrible signal in Matamoros, but it didnt exist en Playa Bagdad.

It goes to what I said about street smarts. You walk the streets long enough, you will get stopped. You keep tossing $20's to the police then they will see you ass a free pick.

To someone who is scared shitless of guns, then MX is NOT the place to you. The officers ALWAYS ride 2 deep, and they jump out with AKs and some other big ass guns while they talk to you and it can be intimidating. Policia, Transito, PFP, AFI, all the fun guys youll see riding.

I always stay at the Empajada in NL, right next to Puente 2. Cheap rooms, and the guys stay out your business. Learn conversational spanish, best advice I can offer

Well about the gatling guns issue, what do you think the US police carry? They carry a hell of a lot more and they use it more!

I believe that if you don't have the guts to go to NL, then you should not talk bad about it. It discourages others from venturing out and seeking and FINDING good experiences.

And addressing the STD comment, I for one am tired of this ethnic bashing. Any diease you find in Mx, you will find more of in the US, so stop trying to discourage others because of your personal fears of traveling to MX.

I for one, have been to Mx countless number of times and have not had a problem. That is not to say that I won't, but I am sensible enough to know that it could happen quicker in the US.

Just because we are the mighty USA citizens, we cannot look down on smaller less developed countries. Remember the European Union? Well the next thing is the North American Union, the NAU. In the NEAR future, just listen to the news, borders to Canada AND Mexico will be opened to free travel.

Hopefully you will be prepared and open minded or you will be going the way of the dinosour...
