no, i am not talkin about penes that are shaped like mushrooms

but, this beeing the general discuccion, several members hobbies have been discussed.

so, - yeah i am odd - one of my fave hobbies is mushroom picking.

i wonder, if somebody else on this board is indulging in this rather odd activity

It is most definitely something I am interested in, and am trying to learn more about. The Pacific Northwest is a mycologists wet dream.

What, like magic mushrooms or food mushrooms?

I know my psychoactive plants quite well, but my knowledge of fungi is kind of lacking... where do you go to learn to identify them?

I love to collect mushrooms, even more than to eat them.
It's very relaxing, except when I don't find any mushroom and I begin to hit everything with my stick....lol

    My favorite are:

    Porcini (boletus edulis)

    Galletti (cantarellus cibarius)

    Ovoli (amanite cesarea)

well kinda both, in some cases its hard to distinguish. best way to learn bout mushroom picking is going with someone who knows.

i used to go with my parents from an early age on. they didnt tell me bout the psychoactive ones but one just builds knowledge thru other methods like books (and some weirdo hippies)

There should be a thread about people's general hobbies here.

'Cause um... people without hobbies... other than "o i like to go to partys and drink lol" ...they kind of make me feel like I'm drowning in the stupidity of the universe.

A thread about weird hobbies. Very cool idea. I collect sand and soil samples from different places I have been. I've done it off and on since I was a kid and first moved out to Monterey, California. The last place I brought anything back from was some sand that I collected from the banks of the Thames during an exceptionally low tide.

Talk about synchronicity. I was thinking yesterday that we're about a month away from the fall mushroom season.

I'll be spending late September/all of October on the farm making sure the longhairs looking for liberty caps don't leave the gates open or get trampled by our cattle.

They're a harmless lot of human beings, but damned they're nuisance.

Last time I did acid I was in a farmhouse where I could hear cows mooing all night long.

I didn't eat meat for a year and a half after that.
