A DVD would not work in an american player if the DVD would have a region code.Otherwise i don´t know why it shouldn´t work.And this DVD does not have a region code for sure.

I thought it might be a PAL / NTSC problem... ? i.e. would a US player play a PAL DVD?

I Forgot about that but it would possibly be another problem now that you brought it up. I should have remembered because it's in the DVD recorder/player Manuals along with the region code issue. Guess i'm starting to show my age... (42)

I knew a guy in the Netherlands who purchased a US DVD movie (not porn) and he complained about all the money he spent to get it converted to PAL and even after he went through all that trouble and expense the picture didn't look good. (forgot this story too)

I don´t know what kind of DVD-Player he had but my player has no problem with NTSC-DVD´s.I would recomend to take a look in to the user guide>technical data.
