question about the Gay pride flag

Does anyone know why the flag has the color scheme of a rainbow? I know many people will comment about how stupid this question is but I am asking because I don't know.

As far as I know, the rainbow colors symbolize plurality and love of life. The multicultural symbolism of the rainbow is commonly used to represent diversity.

I honestly don't know what's up with that damn rainbow flag. It probably goes back to "Wizard Of Oz", would be my guess. Everything gay can, eventually, be traced back to Judy Garland.

I'm just glad I'm done with another gay pride weekend. This is the second year in a row I got stuck in the kitchen washing dishes for two hours. I think the owner finds that amusing.

I did catch seeing the local roller derby girls in the parade though. They seem to like flashing their underwear at the crowd, which was nice.

Oh, yah, the flag. It's all about Judy Garland.
