I hate the NHS (rant)
Bit of a rant, but hey, NHS has pissed me off =/
Meh well I am not the most stable person at the mo anyway, and my gender issues, have just been putting me over the edge.
Now I am probably more andorgynous, with a leaning to femme. I hate my masculine apperance, but at the same time I like smart victorian mens clothes (yeah I am a bot of an oddball).
Anyway I went to councilling, to get a referral for gender councilling, and then after the second session, she basically said, no sorry you cant get specialist councilling.
It seems the gender clinic at charing cross, wont deal with me, as I for all intents and purposes am not worth it.
Because I am not screaming from rooftops, and saying "i am woman here me roar", I am being ignored, and them thinking as ne simply as a crossdresser, which I know I am not.
I am not a guy, I know that much for certain. I may or may not be TS, I mean it would make me feel better about myself, but whether it will improve my life in the long run, is somthing I still have to ask myself, as honestly I dont know. Some days, I think I need to transition no matter what, when every thought is directed towards it. Other days, though i dont feel like a guy, I dont feel like a girl either.
I mean I am an english citzin, whose parents pay taxes (i am 20 in education). I deserve to get therepy, as I need it, and if I dont fucking work out what to do, I am going to go mad.
As you can see I dont know what to do =/ privite councilling is expensive, one session with dr curtis cost me £200....
Also since NHS has disowned me, I doubt I could get hormones on NHS, if I decided to get them.....-_-...
=/ personally the idea of escorting as a...guy....does not really appeal to me.....then again I dont really feel escorting in total...

Well it's a shame that the English education system has became as bad as the American one judging by your rant.
Your living in a country where you are lucky enough to have most medical bills covered by a National Health system. While I am not unsympathetic to your needs, it doesn't seem like you know who or what you want to be yourself so spending resources on you would seem a bit of a waste of money.
Why don't you get affiliated with transgender help and support groups who can advise you on what actions and avenues you can take instead of having a rant on a board which, by pure description, is based towards "Hung" "Angels".

=/ Theres not much in my area. Also our taxes kind of balance out the help.
Inheretence tax now hits 90% of all homeowners.
We are taxed to high heaven, so the least they can do is pay medical bills.
Also I like this site =)

Also here is their link to appeal their decision.

Hello Puppet Master,
You will excuse me if I am blunt. I am in a bad mood.
If you want this, then you will decide to do it, not someone else. It's YOU that has to do it, and no one will hold your hand. Well, you may be able to find a couple of drunks to drop in from time to time, but it's you that has to do it.
You can not rely on the NHS, and particularly CHX. "You might not be mad now, but you will be by the time they've finished with you."
Do you really want a so called specialist prodding and poking you about? Do you really want to become one of the gibbering idiots in a dress?
The NHS seem to base their GIC funding decisions on how much of a frightening shock the patient is to children. If you are 6'5" tall, have size-12 feet, and would be good in goal, then you'll be rushed through the system. If on the other hand you have any potential then you'll simply be left to your own devices.
If you want this then you'll go private. You'll start by self prescribing; by meeting other transgendered people; by joining the local lunatic forums; and; generally self diagnosing yourself.
Let's have another read through your post. Counseling. She's not a specialist. Her only role to determine if you're a raving lunatic.
I deserve to get therepy, as I need it, and if I dont fucking work out what to do, I am going to go mad.
No, you're not going to go mad. You're going to have to do what's up above and get on with it. You can also only get hormones through the NHS after being referred to a GIC such as CHX and after having spent numerous sessions being deliberately wound up by their psychiatrists.
If you think £200 is an expensive outlay then you have another thing coming. Even if the NHS did help you. There's no cosmetic surgery; No hair removal; There's nothing other than the chop.
They'll chop your knob off. But not alot more than that. They'll play with your mind too and try to control you. If they can't control you then they will withdraw treatment. This is what you are facing.
I don't have the answers. The NHS has let me down due to administrative cock ups and losing my notes. I certainly don't trust an organisation to operate on me when they can't even keep to appointments.
You've heard these stories of people going in with a gammy left leg and they amputate the right... You've heard of these stories of people going in and coming out with a whole lot more than they went in with...
The NHS is an EMERGENCY LIFE SAVING organisation. That's all they are now. It's all being piddled down the toilet by bureaucrats and patients taking them to court because they didn't get to their suicide fast enough. That's true!! A girl tried to kill herself and... ...the ambulance took too long to get there. The court awarded her a million!! FFS.
So. If you want this. Then YOU have to do it. And part of that may or may not be, manipulating the NHS to get what you want and to jump through their hoops.
Sorry. I am in a bad mood.
So my typing (i type fast) and my grammer is not up to amazing standards, I admit it.

Sorry. Visit this forum; http://groups.yahoo.com/group/transsexual-uk/ There are hundreds of you in the same boat and you can all compare notes. There's bugger all point in coming onto a USA forum and complaining about the NHS.
