I still have it, but it's been off the road for years since it's condition was going downhill .. I recently found a rust free one but it needs to be put together.. It's got the glass enclosed headlights that turn with the steering wheels and everything.. Hope to have it on the road this summer.

That is because while Citroen's build quality on the DS was good the rustproofing was basically non-existant....which was true of most cars made back then.

There's no doubt the DS was ahead of its time--I've driven a couple and if you compare to say a Mk2 Jag, the DS, while not as luxurious inside, is a far, far more sophisticated vehicle. Once you get used to the brakes that is......

My family were in the motor trade in the 60's and 70's and I remember the state of the DS's that were still about then....The ones that have survived must have fallen into good hands and had a ground-up resto or went straight to the south of France or Cali and stayed there. They just don't do well in northern climates.

There used to be a place not far from where I lived in France that had several DS's, a couple of Traction Avants and various other interesting French metal all locked up in an old warehouse. The owner wouldn't sell, they were just slowly gathering dust and seizing up.

ive been really lucky i suppose that ive had lots of cars but im only 24, my personal fave has been my 2 porsches, a 911 3.2 Carerra Targa and my current ride, a 968 Club Sport. who else has an intresting car history??

Ahh bro The Lancia Stratos is one of my favorite cars, I feel your pain that you have lost it. At least you lost it in a rally instead of to traffic on the road.

I have something 2 admit, ive just blown the money i was saving for the 964 turbo on this stunning car, i needed somethin a bit more practical than the 968 to use everyday, ok, i admit i wanted air con and electric windows again but its got a first for me, a tv and sat-nav, saw it and fell in love. whats the opinion????
