    Default Sadomasochism Genre

Do you think people who have been raped or molested before are more likely to accept that as the norm?

I'm just trying to figure out that sort of market, what's the thrill of seeing someone else dominated and humilated,is it some sort of metaphor or just a sick fantasy.

I know it's a personal preference but you have to draw the line somewhere even in porn. Why is that genre so accepted?

Good thread Legend. I have thought a lot about this subject due to the experiences and preferences of partners and friends and have many long winded theories. short answer YES. long answer YES, BUT. Extended pontifications to come..................

But to stir it up a bit.....
Many dominatrixes have experience of rape
Many submissives have experience of rape
Thier experiences directly shape and lead to particular sexual tastes

i think it depends on the victim.

but i do have a friend who was molested when she was 4, she opened up to me allot and said she wants to loose her virginity by having hard and rough sex, and she wants to have a guy force her legs apart, i told her it sounds boarder line rape but she said whatever it seems fun, which is odd given she is 22 and never even made herself cum and guys freak her out.

she also said she only wants that like half the time, the other half she wants to be in control.

i'm no psych but it sounds like your friend has some stuff that she still needs to work though before she goes having sex with anyone.

to be able to re-live to some degree a moment of powerlessness like being sexually assaulted but now being the one who is really in control (by choosing the time, place, partner etc.) would be a very empowering thing.

i think that the saddest thing is that from best guesses about 25% of women have been sexually abused/assaulted before they are 21.

speaking for myself, i have never been sexually abused or assaulted (that i remember) and yet for about a decade i was very involved in the BDSM community in Toronto. i enjoy both the power exchange and the physical sensations of pain (within reason) mixed with pleasure.

lol, yeah she will work through, the same day bush says he is a dumb ass red neck war monger who only went to iraq to steal oil, on the same day macdonalds admits its kids meal is only to suck in the young kids so they become fat adults who eat there everyday.

It's a mixed bag. I've had several lovers who love to be tied up who've never been abused. I've done it too, and I've never been abused. I've also had lovers who were abused who never mentioned wanting anything but vanilla sex.
It's too easy to make a blanket statement or generalization I think.
Here, fill in this sentence: ALL transexuals are ______.
Or ALL Americans are __________. See what I mean?

Several articles I've read say that in a culture where we're supposed to be civilized, the attraction of BDSM is that civility can be suspended and men can be aggressive and women can be submissive. If it's consensual, it's a highly satisfying way to play. If it's not, then yes, it can be a way for an abusive asshole to work over someone.
In light of the recent thread, I would add that knowing someone did not enjoy herself would take all the appeal out of seeing a rough sex scene. I'm sure most people into BDSM (which is different than being into rough sex anyway) would agree.

    No
    No and yes...sometimes.
The question's too broad for a single answer.

But, what does that have to do with sadomasochistic fantasy?

    IMO, nothing, they're not related.
One's a crime, the other's a fantasy - The vast majority of people can separate the two.

To direct the question back to you, is the violence in anime/manga
more acceptable than other forms of cinematic violence?

Many dominatrixes have experience of rape
Many submissives have experience of rape
Their experiences directly shape and lead to particular sexual tastes
Many people have experience of office blocks.
Their experiences directly shape and lead to particular tastes in
    curry.

    Sorry, that dog don't hunt

I'm just trying to figure out that sort of market, what's the thrill of seeing someone else dominated and humilated,is it some sort of metaphor or just a sick fantasy.
What's the thrill of sniffing shoes?
What's the thrill of jerking off with a lap full of baked beans?
What's the thrill of amputation and stumpy sexy?

Damned if i know......but sure as shit, whatever you define as
'normal', someone else, somewhere, will define as sick and perverted.

I get the impression from the posts here that most likey but not in all cases they form some type of sick twisted sexual prefrence because it somehow gives them control.
