Sorry to be a party pooper guys, Borat is SHIT. total mindless rascist garbage, the lowest form of humour, this is some real sub-porkys shit. O.K., I haven't seen the film but I have seen enough of 'borat' on TV. I can remember when Sasha-baron cohen first started out on radio in u.k. His Ali G character really hit the spot at the time, he was not the only comedian doing that type of thing but was by far the best, his ALI G encapsulated everything that is faux, pretentious and pretend about the british white and asian(this term means of the indian subcontinent in u.k.) youth that imitate 'black' style and mannerisms. His 'bruno' character wasn't so big, probably as it was perhaps too accurate and everyone just took him seriously. WHY I DON'T LIKE BORAT : It is lazy, racial stereotyping, you wouldn't get a film where we laugh at a 'culturally backward' character from an African nation so why pick on the Stans? This character is one joke over and over again. Kazakstan is a large country, as big as all the other 'Stans' put together, as big as western europe, get a map, an accurate one. This is not a remote, backward province, these people are not idiots and they have VERY large reserves of natural gas. Geographically, Kazakstan is integral to the interests of U.S.A., U.K., China, Russia, etc. Pretty much any 'Big Player' in this world economy has a stake in Kazakstan, mainly for its natural gas resources and the need to pipe gas and oil through the country. Many of the population there are not of slavic/arabic Tash wearing descent as portrayed by borat, but of neighbouring Mongolian, Chinese and Russian heritage.
Borat is an anagram of ABORT. Mr Baron-cohen please take note.
the majority rules, and the majority are passive bitches.

He doesn't say anything denigrating about the country, he just had to pick a real country to use to make his act believable and it had to be a country that most people know little about. Sadly, many people, including the Kazakh government, got the wrong end of the stick.
If anything, the nation that comes out looking bad in the movie is the US. Its citizens are shown to often be racist idiots. There are one or two scenes that really drive this home. The American TV show was similar, with Borat getting people to agree with him on some very controversial and often politically incorrect things. I have also seen the British series and have it on DVD. I got the joke immediately, and the joke is not on Kazakhstan. The joke is on the people Borat visits and, in the end, on all of us. We sit and watch this and laugh and then just go home and do nothing. I think the Borat film was far more though-proving than people may have thought.
You probably won't agree with me. Maybe it's becuase so many people in the movie theatres laughed but didn't get the joke as I felt I got it. Maybe it's because Borat is a racist asswipe, but also a pretty decent guy as well. Maybe it's just because you don't accept that it was neccessary for Borat to come from somewhere.
I have been following Baron Cohen's career since the 11 o' clock show and have seen most of his stuff. His third character has left me a little unconvinced, but I think the guy has a real talent. Not just for making people laugh, but for making us think as well.
Navin R. Johnson: You mean I'm going to stay this color??
Mother: I'd love you if you were the color of a baboon's ass.

anyone got any sauce, this HAT tastes kinda dry.............
HAT EATING UPDATE!!!!!! I saw BORAT film last night(after much protesting, I wanted to see scanner darkly) and have to say that I laughed out loud!!!!!!!!! several times. It was very funny and at times VERY disturbing (the bedroom fight scene ) so i eat my hat. Still don't get the wierd 'jewish' angle but then i'm not jewish or particularly into anything religeous(the one word I CANNOT spell). even more disturbingly, my friend thinks Borat looks hot. "What, even with the bad hair and tash?" "Yeah, in a weird way"
