Default Introducing Trans Action to NYC

Trans Action is a ground-breaking HIV prevention intervention developed by and for transgender females of color (TFOC) under 29 in NYC. Trans Action will address relevant issues that affect TFOC risk behaviors. The group aims to increase the awareness of HIV/AIDS amongst TFOC. The activities/topics will provide a safe space allowing free expression, empowerment, health & wellness, and access to health information regarding the many risks impacting this population. Issues such as the unmonitored use of "street" hormones, the risks of loose silicone pumping and sex work will be covered. Trans Action will provide an opportunity for TFOC to develop and strengthen the skills necessary to move toward self-sufficiency, self-acceptance, and personal success to reach their full potential.

I work for a youth oriented program that targets youth under 29. The group targets people of color but does not exclude non-people of color. And Iam not opposed to providing info to girls over 30 if I am able to. Please do not read between the lines. There is nothing there. This is an opportunity to finally create a well rounded service for girls that need the access.

sorry, didn't mean to sound so agressive, i was just curious about
    the limitations on services.

i'm not a provider myself but applaud your work getting health
outreach to the community. i have done health and support work
in the past and it's not easy, but every step forward can save a life.

No need to be sorry. You just want to be informed. As long as their is some time of conversation generated from this that is all that matters. Try to spread the word. I would like for girls to attend. I do things from job readiness training to resume cosultation. I also have name change forms and have a small training around how to go about doing so and am willing to accompany any girl who may be to ambivalent about doing it on their own.

I know its a typo, but I got a good chuckle out of -

". . . but does not exclude non-people of color."

I guess then that other species are also invited? :P Really, though, I hope this goes well. Excellent cause, glad to see the involvement.

    Default Oops!

My bad. I meant Im not excluding anybody but I am focusing on Transgender Females of Color. I believe every color exists in the trans rainbow, we all struggle. Some of us more than others but still we should stick together as sisters in this struggle. If there is anyone that is interested please give me a call. I am having a group tonight and I am looking for girls to come through.
