Tommorow I will crunch some numbers, but for now I will
get the ball rolling with the fact that there are many variables
to the cost issues.
One is that different girls will require different types of
procedures. Some will need more electrolysis, or FFS than
others. Some may need more or less body work than others.
Age may play a factor in costs wilth younger transitioners
perhaps needing less work than older transitioners.
Also there is the geographical location that the women elects to
have her surgical procedures performed in. Girls who have
procedures performed in foreign countries may find their costs
much lower than women who have it done in the US.

In cold hard US currency. Circumstances effect this so much. Under ideal circumstances A kid with parental support to get hormones before puberty and all that. Not cutting any corners (no internet pharmcies or black market)... hormones $150/ month from walgreens. For 6 years long enough to ensure a female like puberty experience... $10,800. Then surgery say in Thailand add another $6000. With that ammount of money the woman will at least be presentable, and un clockable.
Under less than ideal conditions, well that FFS surgery. Where they chip bones and basically sculpt your face. Well that can run into tens of thousands of dollars by itself.
Then there are of course the un quantifiable cost and benefits of transition. But that's not what you are looking to hear about.

then divide by $2-300.... The thing is...it's a catch 22 situation for escorts I imagine. There has to be a mental/emotional cost, not to mention the number of potential love affairs that never make it out of the gate. Also, the toll it must take on one's desire to bone at all. I wonder if it's like restaurant work - you get sick of the menu....maybe you stick to one or two things that you like to eat...
Edit: Also, I want to dine on the girl in my avatar like she's a hot plate of doughnuts and I haven't eaten in a week!

I can't even fathom how much I have spent on my transition- on electrolysis alone I would bet 20 K. So I have no clue of the figures-
but between all the surgeries and procedures- A LOT.

Good thread. I barely have enough to go to school, can't imagine trying to come up with transitional funds on top of that.
I heard some companies actually help with hormone costs. Can anyone elaborate on that?

IF you leave it too late....(result = needing a lot more surgical procedures than younger transitioners) which I think most do in western countires the cost can be HUGE...
I have NO IDEA how im going to get all the money needed to be happy with myself in the mirror.... but where theres a will....

all approximate.
Laser Hair Removal: £6000
Electrolysis: £1000
Orchiectomy: £1500
Breast Augmentation: £4500
Hormones: £7000
Consultations: £2000
Voice Therapy: £2000
Travelling: £4000
ID: £500
Birth Certificate: £500
Time: 6-years
So adding that lot up; £29K ($60k) Bloody hell!! I never really added up the cost before as it's all been ongoing bit by bit. That's all over 6-years.
And I could easily spend another £30k ($60k) on SRS and FFS.
That is all of course purely the financial cost. There's also the social and emotional costs too. There is not one single person in my past life that I carried through to the present, except my family.
The biggest cost to me was my friends. Which has left emotional scars which I try to hide. It has definitely affected my trust in people, also that when I'm eager for friends I sometimes say the wrong things out of fear of going through it all again.
This is why transition is so much more than anyone can tell you. It's slightly different for each person. We've all seen and met people that don't pass at all yet they only focus on how much money it costs. You can also have the most stunning transsexual, until they open their mouth. So many things.
The whole thing needs informed planning and dedication lasting years. It's all a balance on many levels.
I'm not really here for fame or notoriety. Just to get through this. The website and the escorting has funded almost all of the above. My hope at the moment is to be all out of the TG scene completely by the end of 2007.
